Electrical Troubleshooting & Repairs in San Diego
Something's not right and you can't tell what. That's exactly what we're for — methodical diagnosis, honest explanation, and a fix that lasts.
We fix
Common Problems We Diagnose Every Week
Breakers That Keep Tripping
An overloaded circuit, a failing breaker, or a fault in the wiring. We find which one — instead of just resetting it and hoping.
Dead Outlets & Switches
One dead outlet is usually a failed device or loose connection. Several dead at once points to a circuit problem. Either way, we trace it.
Flickering or Dimming Lights
Loose connections, overloaded circuits, or a panel on its way out. If it's happening often, don't ignore it.
Burning Smells or Warm Outlets
This is urgent. Kill the breaker for that circuit and call us. Heat means something is failing.
Sparking When You Plug In
Occasional tiny sparks can be normal; consistent sparking, discoloration, or a buzzing sound is not.
Old Wiring Issues
Aluminum wiring, ungrounded outlets, DIY additions from previous owners — common in older San Diego County homes, all fixable.
How we work
Diagnose First, Quote Second
A lot of "repairs" start with a guess and end with a bigger bill. We do it differently:
- We test, not guess. Meters and methodical tracing — not swapping parts until something works.
- Plain-English explanation. You'll understand what's wrong and why before we quote anything.
- One written price. Agreed before work starts. If we find something else mid-job, you hear about it first.
- Fixed to code. No tape-and-hope. The repair meets code and stays fixed.
Sometimes the honest answer is that the real fix is a panel upgrade — we'll tell you that too, and show you why.
When to call right away
- Burning smell from outlets, switches, or the panel
- Outlets or switch plates hot to the touch
- Sparking or arcing sounds
- Power out in part of the house with no tripped breaker
- Shocks or tingles from appliances or fixtures
Common questions
Repair FAQ
My breaker keeps tripping. What's wrong?
Usually an overloaded circuit, a failing breaker, or a fault somewhere in the wiring. Resetting it repeatedly without finding the cause isn't safe — call (775) 790-3699 and we'll diagnose it.
Is a burning smell from an outlet an emergency?
Yes. Turn off the breaker for that circuit and call an electrician right away. Don't use the outlet until it's been checked.
Why do my lights flicker?
Common causes: loose connections, an overloaded circuit, or a failing panel. If it's more than one light or happens often, get it checked — it can signal a bigger problem.
Can you find a problem another electrician couldn't?
Intermittent faults are our bread and butter. As a master electrician, we trace problems methodically instead of guessing — and we explain what we find in plain terms.
