How it works

Charging at Home, Done Right

A Level 2 charger adds serious range overnight — but it pulls real power. The most important part of the job happens before we touch a wire: the load calculation.

  • Load calculation first. We verify your panel can actually support a 50-amp dedicated circuit. If it can't, we'll tell you — and a panel upgrade may be the right first step.
  • Dedicated 50-amp, 240V circuit. No sharing with the dryer. No shortcuts. Sized and protected to code.
  • Tesla or universal. Tesla Wall Connector, or a universal J1772/NACS charger that works with any EV on the market.
  • Permitted and inspected. We pull the permit and handle the inspection.

Good to know

  • Garage installs are usually the simplest — panel location matters
  • Detached garages or long runs may need trenching — we'll quote it straight
  • Charging overnight on off-peak rates keeps costs down
  • Most installs completed in half a day

Common questions

EV Charger FAQ

What size circuit does an EV charger need?

Most Level 2 home chargers need a dedicated 50-amp, 240-volt circuit. We'll run a load calculation on your panel first to confirm it has the capacity.

Can you install a Tesla Wall Connector?

Yes. We install Tesla Wall Connectors as well as universal Level 2 chargers that work with any EV — Ford, Rivian, Hyundai, and the rest.

Does my panel need an upgrade for an EV charger?

Sometimes. If your panel is full, undersized, or an older Zinsco/Federal Pacific unit, an upgrade may be needed first. We'll tell you straight during the free assessment. More on panel upgrades.

Do I need a permit for an EV charger in San Diego County?

Yes, in most jurisdictions. We pull the permit and handle the inspection as part of the install.
